Workshop Offerings

Adverse Childhood Trauma 8:30 10:30

This workshop will focus on giving you an entry look on how to build blocks for development, learning, and health throughout a person’s lifetime and how trauma can have a long-term effect on well-being and functioning for children, adults, families and our community. This workshop will take a deep dive into the development of the adolescent brain and how it effects a child in their everyday experiences.  

Child Youth Growth and Development 10:45-12:45

Program quality is about setting the stage for children’s learning.  Understand how the environment strongly affects staff, children’s and parents’ interactions with each other, and adult’s ability to create an atmosphere where children’s growth and development is supported.  

Professional Development and Leadership   8:30-10:30

 Understand what it takes to be a successful leader in your field.  You will be provided with tools that you will be able to share in your field when you go back to your programs. Learn how to develop and sustain a culture that embraces professional learning in your programs

Strategies to Engage Older Youth in AfterSchool Programs   10:45-12:45

Recruiting, retaining youth of middle and high school age is challenging work because they are a mobile population that can move more frequently than their younger counterpart.  This workshop will provide guidance on how to create enriching, relevant and supportive OST environments for middle and high school youth that will help put them on a path to success. This workshop will outline key strategies that help put them on a path to success.
