Potential Presenters for the 2019 Michigan AfterSchool Association Spring Conference:

Quest for the best in the out-of-school time (OST) field

The Michigan AfterSchool Association invites you to submit a presentation proposal for consideration for the Michigan AfterSchool Association (MAA) Spring Conference, May 6, 2019 in Kalamazoo, MI at the Kalamazoo Radisson Downtown.

It is anticipated that 400-600 after-school administrators and practitioners will attend the conference.

The MAA Spring Conference is a professional development event for the Michigan out-of-school time community, including teachers, on-site staff, administrators, child care providers, and parents.

MAA is excited to announce that this year’s conference theme is Quest for the Best in the Out-of-School Time (OST) field.  This theme will allow presenters to introduce their topics, such as project based learning, technology and social media, fine arts, scientific experiments, outdoor activities and more, with the opportunity to have attendees think outside the box and look at how after-school can transform student outcomes.  The goal of the Conference is to provide participants with hands-on, engaging, and innovative programming and activity ideas, networking opportunities, and affirmation of the importance of establishing rich, supportive environments and high quality services for youth and their families during the summer months.  Participants have the opportunity to earn “State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs).

A maximum of two (2) presenters per proposal are offered the following:

  • Complimentary conference registration
  • Continental breakfast and lunch on May 6th
  • Handout duplication of one (1) double-sided page when camera-ready copy (with, if applicable, appropriate copyright approval) is received by April 5, 2019. Presenters are encouraged to include an email address on handout materials so they can disseminate additional information to participants electronically.
  • Audiovisual/presentation equipment: microphone(s) where warranted, LCD projector (for use with your laptop computer), cart and screen. Other equipment may be available upon request.

If you are interested in being considered as a presenter, please complete the Presenter Proposal Form below by February 4, 2019. General registration for the conference opens in February and session room planning will occur after that.

You will be notified of the status of your proposal by February 22nd, 2019.
