MICHIGAN AFTERSCHOOL ASSOCIATION IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE A PARTNERSHIP WITH AARP FOUNDATION!

 

 

AARP Foundation provides funding to businesses to help upgrade current employees’ skills through training. Earn a Child Development Associate Certification (CDA) or Advanced Child Care Center Teacher Certification!

Eligibility:

  • Employed at their current employer for at least six months
  • Be at least 50-years of age or older
  • Earning $16.00 per hour or less

 

How It Works:

Training Options

Your employees can receive training through:

  • An outside trainer, community college or other non-employer training.
  • On-the-job training provided by employers

Reimbursement of Training Expenses

AARP Foundation will reimburse up to $2,000 of training expenses through:

  • Direct reimbursement, with a match for outside training
  • Wage subsidy for on-the-job training, if the employer commits to increased wages and responsibility upon successful completion.

Employee Matching Contribution

Employers must provide a minimum matching contribution for outside training, including:

  • One-half of training cost for employers with over 1,000 employees.
  • One-third of training cost for employers with 250-999 employees.
  • One-fifth of training cost for employers with less than 250 employees.
